Beautiful sterling silver ring with Fordite stone in shades of pink, blue, turquoise, yellow and silver with a slight metallic undertone. This stone is not perfectly flat on top but has some undulations that follow the contours of the colors. Fordite is actually paint from automotive plants that was removed from equipment and carved into a cabochon. Hence the name Ford-ite or also called a Detroit Agate. Vintage Fordite has a slight enamel smell that is only noticeable if it's been in a sealed ziplock bag. Although, "fake" Fordite is currently made with resin, I believe this stone to be a real vintage piece based on that tell-tale smell! Fordite has increasingly become collectible as car paint is no longer applied in the same way and each piece is unique. The setting is accented with three small gold 10k gold balls. The band has a lightly hammered texture, is adjustable and the ring is very comfortable to wear. The ring has a bright mirror like finish as you can see from the blinding photo of the back of the ring. The ring is about 2 3/8" across by 1" wide at the largest end and 1/2" wide at the smallest end. The ring is currently set to an 8.5 but it can easily be adjusted from 7 to about 9.5.
