A very detailed silver plated sporting medal dated 1892 that I believe is to commemorate the winner of a running competition. The verbiage around the medal says "Rapid 1600 M. Club". The center design appears to be two swimmers, back to back, about to dive into a pool! The medal is in excellent condition with no loss of the plating and is about 1 1/4" diameter. It is hung on a sterling silver clasp worn in the front and allows for the pendant to easily be removed or exchanged for another. The bottom part of the chain is made from sterling silver jump rings that are individually opened and closed to form the Helms Weave. The upper part of the chain is a newly purchased, machine made paper clip chain in sterling silver. The entire necklace is about 18 3/4" long including the chain, clasp and pendant. The chain itself is about 16", the clasp has a diameter of 1/2" inch and the pendant is 1 1/4" in diameter. If you wish, the chain can be made longer or shorter.
